Morgan County, IN – The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a recent phone scam that involves an impostor pretending to be Sgt. Williams, an actual officer from the department.

Officials urge the public to be cautious of such deceptive tactics. Anyone receiving similar calls should not engage with the caller or disclose any personal information. Instead, they are encouraged to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center directly at 765-342-5544. By doing so, residents can verify the legitimacy of any suspicious call and ensure that they are speaking with an authorized officer if necessary.

This alert serves as a reminder to the community to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud, particularly when the caller claims to be from a trusted authority like law enforcement. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating these incidents and asks the public to report any related experiences to assist in their efforts.
