Great Falls, MT – Multiple winter weather advisories issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) remain in effect, warning of heavy snowfall and challenging travel conditions across Montana through Sunday.
The advisories impact regions such as the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains, Centennial Mountains, and Northwest Beaverhead County. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 9 inches, with the heaviest accumulations anticipated in mountain passes and at higher elevations.
According to the NWS, the first advisory remains active until noon Friday, with subsequent advisories taking effect from early Saturday through 5 p.m. Saturday. The most intense snowfall is forecast between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, with rates reaching up to half an inch per hour.
Travel conditions are likely to be hazardous, particularly on mountain passes and during the Friday evening commute in areas like Helena and the Gallatin Valley. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution. Updated road conditions can be obtained by calling 511 or visiting the Montana Department of Transportation website.
