Pendleton, OR – Oregon residents are facing challenging travel conditions as a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. Friday. Forecasts predict a combination of snow, freezing rain, and ice accumulation across various regions, increasing the risk of hazardous roadways and power outages.

According to the National Weather Service, areas in the foothills of the Southern Blue Mountains and North Central Oregon, including cities like Heppner and Maupin, could see up to two-tenths of an inch of ice. Meanwhile, the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades, encompassing communities such as Camp Sherman and Sunriver, are expected to receive up to two inches of snow alongside similar ice accumulations.

Officials warn that travel conditions could become treacherous, particularly along Highway 26, where freezing rain is likely to be most concentrated. Motorists are urged to slow down and prepare for delays during the Friday morning commute.

Residents are advised to monitor road conditions via TripCheck.com or by calling 511. Power outages are also possible, and households should ensure they have essential supplies on hand.

This advisory underscores the importance of caution and preparation as the state grapples with winter’s icy grip.
