Glasgow, MT – Canadian wildfires are sending a dense cloud of smoke into northeast Montana, resulting in widespread haze and reduced visibility. The National Weather Service in Glasgow has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for the region, predicting visibility could drop below three miles in some areas. The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, the smoke has been carried southward by prevailing winds and is expected to create hazardous driving conditions. Isolated areas may see visibility fall as low as half a mile. Residents are urged to take precautions while traveling and limit outdoor activities.

As the smoke lingers, temperatures are set to rise throughout the weekend. Friday’s high will reach 84°F, with clear skies overnight as temperatures drop to around 60°F. Saturday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 88°F, while Sunday is expected to be even hotter, reaching 95°F. The heat will continue into next week, with Monday and Tuesday seeing highs in the low 90s to mid-90s.

Residents should prepare for poor air quality and stay updated on weather conditions. The smoke and heat could combine to create challenging outdoor conditions.
