Thorntown, IN – A Boone County farmer near Indianapolis was arrested Wednesday on four felony charges after investigators said he allegedly fired at an occupied agricultural aircraft in 2025.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Kedrick Miller of Thorntown was taken into custody on a felony arrest warrant following an investigation into an incident reported Friday, July 18, 2025.
The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office charged Miller with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony; attempting to disrupt the operation of an aircraft, a Level 4 felony; criminal recklessness, a Level 5 felony; and intimidation, a Level 6 felony.
Authorities allege Miller intentionally discharged a firearm at an occupied agricultural aircraft. The sheriff’s office did not provide additional information about the aircraft’s location, possible damage or what allegedly led to the shooting.
Miller was arrested without incident and transported to the Boone County Jail, officials said. He was being held without bond Wednesday pending further court proceedings.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Sheriff Tony Harris said firing at an occupied aircraft could create dangerous consequences for the pilot and people on the ground, particularly if an aircraft were forced to make an emergency landing or a bullet traveled away from its intended target.
Harris also noted that agricultural pilots provide an important service to farming communities and should be able to work without being placed at risk.
The sheriff’s office said investigators conducted a comprehensive investigation before presenting the case to county prosecutors. The release did not indicate when Miller’s first court appearance would occur.
The charges are allegations. Miller is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
