Monroe, MI – A phone scam is targeting Monroe County residents, according to Sheriff Troy Goodnough. The scammer impersonates Detective Robert Blair and provides a phone number for victims to call. The number, 734-264-7678, prompts victims to select an option that connects to a live person. However, the scammer’s intentions remain unclear.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, this scam uses an automated message thanking callers for contacting their office. While Detective Robert Blair is a legitimate employee of the department, he is not associated with this number.

Residents who may have fallen victim are urged to contact the Monroe County Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070 to report any personal or financial information shared with the scammer. Sheriff Goodnough advises anyone unsure of an officer’s legitimacy to call the Records Division directly at 734-240-7415 for verification.
