Monroe County Man Arrested for Alleged Vehicle Theft in Frenchtown Township

Monroe, MI – A 33-year-old Newport man was arrested on Saturday afternoon in Frenchtown Township following the alleged theft of a motor vehicle. Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported the incident, which occurred at approximately 3:33 p.m. near Danny’s Fine Food II.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Dominic Flint responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. Information was broadcast to all patrol units, leading Deputy Justin Zielinski to spot the vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot on South Monroe Street. When the suspect left the lot, Zielinski attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled.

The driver exited the vehicle near Go Mad Fitness and fled on foot. With the assistance of K9 Deputy Jack Hall, his partner Bane, and the Monroe County Drone Unit, the suspect was captured. He was lodged at Monroe County Jail pending his arraignment.
