Moline, IL -A fire broke out late Thursday evening at a home on River Drive, displacing two residents. Crews arrived to find heavy flames at the back of the two-story home.
Firefighters began battling the blaze at 8:37 p.m. and quickly brought it under control within 30 minutes. According to the Moline Fire Department, the home had working smoke detectors, which allowed the residents to escape unharmed.
The fire forced two residents from the home. The American Red Cross is providing assistance. No injuries were reported.
Crews from East Moline, Rock Island Arsenal, and Rock Island Fire Departments assisted. MidAmerican Energy secured utilities at the scene.
Investigators worked for about two hours after extinguishing the fire to determine its cause. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Moline Fire Marshal Cunningham at 309-524-2250.
