Moline, IL — On Sunday night, a fire broke out in a bedroom at a two-story home on 15th Street. The Moline Fire Department responded to the scene within six minutes of the call, which came at approximately 11:02 p.m.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire in about ten minutes, preventing further damage. All occupants evacuated safely despite the home lacking working smoke detectors. Emergency responders treated three individuals at the scene. One person required transport to a hospital for further evaluation.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation. Officials urge anyone with information to contact Fire Marshal Cunningham at 309-524-2250.

Fire crews received support from Rock Island, Rock Island Arsenal, and East Moline fire departments. Mid-American Energy secured utilities, while the Moline Second Alarmers provided additional assistance.

This incident underscores the importance of smoke detectors. The Moline Fire Department advises residents to install detectors on every level, test them monthly, and replace batteries twice yearly. Developing a fire escape plan and avoiding electrical overloads are also recommended safety measures.

For smoke detector installation or fire safety resources, contact the Moline Fire Department at 309-524-2250.
