Mokena, IL -From the Village of Mokena: Residents in the Mokena area are advised of a prescribed burn scheduled for today, Wednesday, February 14, at Hickory Creek Preserve. The Will County Forest Preserve is conducting the burn, which will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., east of Schoolhouse Road and west of Wolf Road.

According to the Village of Mokena, these controlled burns are carefully managed and only carried out under ideal weather conditions to ensure safety. While these events are routine and supervised, locals are encouraged to remain vigilant. 

The Village advises residents near the burn area to keep their windows closed and follow any necessary safety precautions to minimize any inconvenience or health impacts.
