Kansas City, MO – A winter storm continues to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions to the Kansas City metro area, with accumulation expected to reach up to 4 inches by Wednesday evening. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 9 PM Wednesday, impacting travel on major routes like I-70 and I-435.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will taper off by late Wednesday, but icy roads will persist due to freezing overnight temperatures, dropping as low as 7°F. Winds of 10-20 mph will create bitter wind chills, making travel treacherous.

Thursday will bring cold but clear conditions, with highs around 24°F and wind chills as low as -3°F. Friday warms slightly to 41°F, but another system could bring rain and snow by Saturday night.

Drivers should use caution on bridges and overpasses, which will remain slick. MoDOT advises checking road conditions at traveler.modot.org before heading out. Those traveling for Valentine’s Weekend should prepare for possible delays and icy conditions.
