Springfield, MO – A storm system is set to bring rain and gusty winds across the Missouri Ozarks starting Saturday, with the potential for isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures will rise into the low 60s over the weekend, offering some relief from recent chilly conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, showers will begin Friday night, increasing into Saturday with occasional thunderstorms likely through Sunday. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, especially in open areas, so residents should secure outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel on exposed roadways.

Rainfall amounts will range from 0.25 to 0.75 inches across the region, with localized pockets of 1 to 1.5 inches possible in eastern Ozarks. Travelers along U.S. Highway 65 and nearby routes should remain cautious as wet roads could lead to slick conditions.

Looking ahead, skies will clear briefly on Sunday, with mostly sunny conditions and highs nearing 65°F. However, rain chances return late Sunday into Monday, accompanied by mild temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Cooler conditions are expected by Tuesday, with highs in the mid-50s.

Residents are advised to monitor updates, especially if planning outdoor activities this weekend. Prepare for brief periods of heavy rain and gusty winds, and stay weather-aware during thunderstorms.

Stay tuned for further updates from the National Weather Service as conditions develop.
