St. Louis, MO – Hotter and increasingly humid weather is settling back into Missouri this week, with many communities expected to climb into the 90s and some locations experiencing heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees before storm chances increase later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, temperatures will remain fairly steady through the remainder of the week while moisture continues to build across the region. Dew points are forecast to rise into the 70s, creating more uncomfortable conditions despite temperatures remaining near seasonal July levels.

High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to middle 90s across much of eastern and central Missouri and southwest Illinois through the weekend. As humidity increases, afternoon heat index values may approach 100 to 105 degrees, especially from Thursday into Friday.

Forecasters say residents planning outdoor activities should take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorm chances will increase Thursday and Friday, although not every community will receive rainfall. Some areas could remain dry while others see scattered showers and thunderstorms capable of brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.

Temperatures are expected to remain seasonably warm through the weekend, with highs generally holding in the upper 80s to lower 90s after any passing storms.

Residents are encouraged to monitor their local forecast for updates, as rainfall coverage and timing will vary considerably across the region.
