Springfield, Mo. – Rain and scattered thunderstorms will make daily appearances across Missouri starting Tuesday and continuing through Friday, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, rain chances will cycle in and out over the four-day stretch, with breaks between systems. The pattern begins Tuesday, May 6, when afternoon thunderstorms could impact parts of southern Missouri, including Branson, Lebanon, and West Plains. Daily high temperatures will hover in the low to mid-70s, while overnight lows dip into the 40s and 50s.
Areas such as Joplin, Rolla, and Springfield should anticipate intermittent showers on Wednesday and Thursday, with localized thunderstorms possible in the afternoons. Storms may bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds, particularly along I-44 during peak travel times.
Drivers should remain alert for wet roads and sudden changes in visibility. The NWS advises residents to monitor alerts, secure outdoor items, and prepare for delays if storms intensify. While this isn’t a continuous rain event, rainfall totals could accumulate over the week in storm-prone areas.
The unsettled pattern is expected to ease by the weekend, but more detailed updates will follow if stronger systems develop.
