Springfield, MO – Ice and snow continue to impact Missouri as frigid temperatures grip the region, creating hazardous travel conditions this week. Snowfall totals reached 5.4 inches in Rolla, while areas like Versailles and Lincoln reported 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Ice accumulations up to 0.63 inches were recorded in Bucyrus and Northview.

The NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of the Missouri Ozarks, warning of wind chills dropping to 10 degrees below zero tonight. Residents should use caution on roads, particularly along U.S. Route 63 near Rolla, where snow and ice have created slippery conditions. Officials advise limiting outdoor exposure due to the elevated risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

The forecast shows a gradual warming trend later this week. Tuesday will remain bitterly cold, with a high of 28°F and lows near 11°F overnight. By Wednesday, sunny skies and highs around 35°F may provide slight relief, but another round of scattered snow showers is expected Thursday night into Friday.

Drivers are urged to monitor road conditions and allow extra time for travel. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is working to treat roadways, but slick spots may linger, especially on untreated surfaces.

For the latest updates, residents can visit weather.gov or check with local officials for real-time road conditions. Stay indoors when possible and bundle up if venturing outside.
