Springfield, MO – Warm, dry air and gusty winds up to 25 mph are increasing the fire danger across central Missouri today. By midweek, a strong weather system will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, raising concerns for road conditions and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), today’s fire risk is due to a dry air mass combined with gusty winds. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and be cautious with ignition sources. By late Tuesday, patchy drizzle will develop, leading into a wet and stormy Wednesday.

Temperatures will reach a high of 73°F today, followed by increasing clouds tonight with a low of 41°F. Tuesday will bring patchy drizzle with a high near 58°F, and winds gusting up to 37 mph. Wednesday’s showers are likely throughout the day, with temperatures around 70°F.

Looking ahead, Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 54°F, while Friday and Saturday could see additional rain chances.

Drivers along Highway 65 should be cautious of potential slick roads by midweek. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and prepare for shifting weather conditions.
