Springfield, Missouri – Drivers and residents across central and eastern Missouri should be alert for strong to severe storms between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, particularly east of Highway 65, where hail and damaging winds may accompany scattered thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, there is a 30–50% chance of storms across the region, with the greatest risk for severe weather stretching east of Highway 63. While the storms are expected to be less intense than Monday’s system, hazards could still include hail up to half an inch, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and a low-end risk for isolated tornadoes.
Communities such as Rolla, West Plains, and Farmington are most likely to experience the strongest storms during the early afternoon hours. Those traveling on Highways 60, 63, and 67 should plan for reduced visibility, wet roads, and sudden wind shifts. Emergency managers recommend monitoring alerts and ensuring phones and weather radios are charged in case warnings are issued.
Storm chances will diminish after 5 p.m., but residents should stay weather-aware as more unsettled conditions could return later this week.
