Kansas City, MO – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for portions of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri, including the Kansas City metro, as a system moves through bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow and potentially hazardous travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, snowfall will begin early Monday morning for areas along and west of Interstate 35, spreading eastward by the afternoon. The advisory includes Atchison, Leavenworth, Johnson, and Wyandotte counties in Kansas, as well as Buchanan, Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties in Missouri.

The snow is expected to impact both the morning and evening commutes, with slippery roads and reduced visibility possible throughout the day. Even minor accumulations could cause travel delays on major routes including I-70, I-35, and U.S. 36.

Forecasters note that the heaviest snowfall band remains uncertain, but an eastward expansion of the advisory area is possible later today. Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distances, and check travel conditions before heading out.
