Springfield, Missouri – Flooded roads and rising water continue to disrupt travel across the Ozarks region Monday morning, as residual rain from the weekend leaves much of southern Missouri underwater.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, widespread Flood Advisories and Warnings remain in effect through at least Monday, with MODOT reporting dozens of closures along key routes in southern counties, including areas near Branson, West Plains, and Rolla. The warning comes amid ongoing high water levels in flood-prone zones, especially along low-lying roadways and creeks.
Travel is strongly discouraged in affected areas, particularly near washed-out roads marked by MODOT’s flood closure map. Emergency officials urge drivers to heed the warning: “Turn around, don’t drown.” Residents should check local water gauge data at water.noaa.gov and monitor MODOT’s real-time updates for the latest closures.
If travel is unavoidable, consider alternate routes and inform someone of your destination. Flash flooding remains a risk, especially during morning commutes.
Flood alerts are expected to continue through the day, with more updates likely by Monday afternoon as waters recede or shift downstream.
