Little Rock, Ark. – Dry skies early this week won’t last long in Arkansas, with rain and thunderstorms expected to ramp up statewide by Wednesday and linger through Friday, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a mostly dry Monday and Tuesday will give way to increasing rain chances starting late Tuesday night. Areas including Batesville, Hot Springs, Monticello, and Little Rock could see rain probabilities climb above 70% by Thursday afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms also possible.
Wednesday through Friday will bring the highest risk for rainfall, with storm systems moving in from the west and increasing the likelihood of localized flooding. Travel conditions could deteriorate midweek, especially along major roadways like I-40 and I-30. Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts and avoid driving through flooded roads.
The wet pattern won’t end with the workweek. Extended precipitation outlooks from the NOAA Climate Prediction Center show Arkansas with a strong signal for above-normal rainfall between April 26 and May 4, pointing to a soggy start to May across much of the state.
More updates are expected as confidence grows in storm timing and intensity. Rain chances remain elevated into the weekend.
