St. Louis, MO – A flash flood warning has been issued for several counties in Missouri as thunderstorms produce heavy rainfall, leading to ongoing or expected flash flooding. The warning is in effect until 8 p.m. today.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, as of 2:25 p.m., Doppler radar indicated that thunderstorms have been producing heavy rain across southeastern Osage, northwestern Franklin, and Gasconade counties. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected soon in these areas.
The rain has caused flooding of small creeks, streams, highways, and streets, with locations including Washington, Owensville, Hermann, and New Haven facing the most significant impacts. Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roads, as the region’s low-lying areas and poor drainage systems are at risk.
Additionally, the National Weather Service in Springfield issued a flash flood warning for several southwestern Missouri counties, including Dallas, Laclede, and Wright. Areas like Lebanon and Buffalo are expected to see up to 3 more inches of rain.
Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions, especially when encountering flooded roads.
