Albuquerque, NM – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Sacramento Mountains in southern New Mexico as snow and gusty winds are expected to affect the area overnight and through the day on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight until 6 p.m. MDT Saturday. Snowfall accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are forecasted, along with winds gusting up to 35 mph, which may create hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.

The advisory specifically targets the Sacramento Mountains above 7,500 feet and the East Slopes below 7,500 feet, including areas like Cloudcroft, Mayhill, and Sunspot. Travelers in these regions should be prepared for challenging travel conditions and plan to exercise caution.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down and remain alert to changing road conditions, which can be monitored through the state’s 511 service.
