Kansas City, MO – A bitter Arctic blast will grip Missouri this week, bringing subzero wind chills, accumulating snow, and hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected late Monday night into Tuesday, with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches possible. Winds up to 22 mph will create dangerous wind chills, dropping temperatures to -2°F by Tuesday night. A winter storm threat remains in place for Tuesday, and extreme cold warnings are issued through Wednesday.
By midweek, highs will struggle to reach the single digits, with overnight lows dipping below zero. Wind chills could make it feel 20 to 30 degrees below zero, creating life-threatening conditions for those outdoors.
Drivers should prepare for icy roads and low visibility during snowfall periods, especially along I-70 and I-35. Officials advise limiting travel during peak storm hours and dressing in layers to prevent frostbite.
By Friday, conditions will slightly improve, with highs nearing 19°F, but another potential system could bring additional snowfall into next weekend.
