Mississippi Weather Alert: 4 EF1 Tornadoes Confirmed Overnight in Lincoln and Lawrence Counties

Jackson, Mississippi – Four EF1 tornadoes carved paths across southwest Mississippi late Saturday night into early Sunday, with winds up to 110 mph and tracks stretching nearly seven miles in parts of Lincoln and Lawrence counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, preliminary damage surveys confirm tornadoes near Norfield, Lincoln/Lawrence County, Enterprise and Monticello between 11:46 p.m. Saturday and 12:24 a.m. Sunday. No injuries or deaths were reported.

The strongest tornado developed near Norfield at 11:46 p.m. CST Saturday, producing estimated peak winds of 110 mph. The storm traveled 6.79 miles and reached a maximum width of 800 yards before lifting shortly before midnight.

Just after midnight Sunday, an EF1 tornado tracked 6.92 miles across Lincoln and Lawrence counties with peak winds near 100 mph and a width of 250 yards. Another EF1 near Monticello produced winds up to 105 mph and carved a 4.04-mile path through parts of Lawrence County.

A fourth EF1 tornado near Enterprise touched down around 12:01 a.m., packing 100 mph winds along a 2.05-mile track.

Survey teams say the findings are preliminary and additional assessments are planned in Lawrence, Jefferson Davis and Covington counties. Updates will be issued as surveys continue.
