Jackson, Mississippi – Drivers across central and southern Mississippi should expect patchy dense fog through 9 a.m. Wednesday, with visibility dropping as low as ¼ mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, limited visibility is affecting major corridors including I-20, I-55, and U.S. 49, with a “Limited Threat” level issued for cities such as Meridian, Philadelphia, Laurel, and Hattiesburg. Commuters are urged to slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel this morning.

Foggy conditions stretch from Columbus and Eupora down to Natchez and Brookhaven, potentially disrupting school transportation and early work commutes. Patchy fog may appear suddenly, especially in rural or low-lying areas.

This morning’s fog is part of a lingering humid pattern expected to bring scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms through the end of the week. Rainfall totals could increase across central Mississippi, with potential for localized heavy rain and marginally severe storms capable of gusty winds and hail.

Drivers should remain cautious during early morning hours. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen.
