Laurel, MS – A flood warning remains in effect for Tallahala Creek in Laurel, Mississippi, with minor flooding forecast through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.
The river, currently at 13.7 feet as of early Sunday, is expected to crest at 15.5 feet just after midnight Monday, exceeding the flood stage of 13 feet. The NWS warns that at 16 feet, Old Sandersville Road begins to flood, posing potential hazards for drivers.
Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and heed the advice, “Turn around, don’t drown.” The flood warning will remain active until 12 p.m. Thursday, with additional updates expected at 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
