Park Rapids, MN – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Hubbard, Wadena, East Becker, and East Otter Tail counties from noon Tuesday through midnight Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

Forecasters expect 3 to 6 inches of heavy snow combined with wind gusts up to 35 mph, creating low visibility and hazardous road conditions across central Minnesota. The most dangerous travel period is expected late Tuesday afternoon into early evening, coinciding with the evening commute.

Snow will develop midday Tuesday, intensify through the afternoon, and taper off around midnight. Icy and snow-covered roads will make driving treacherous, particularly along Highway 10, Highway 71, and Interstate 94.

The NWS urges drivers to delay travel if possible or use extreme caution. Motorists should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, reduce speed, and avoid sudden braking or acceleration on slick roads.
