Minneapolis, Minnesota – Residents across central and southern Minnesota could wake up to frosty lawns Saturday morning, as overnight lows dip to near freezing and bring a risk of patchy frost.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, a hazardous weather outlook remains in effect for over 30 counties in Minnesota and parts of west-central Wisconsin, including Eau Claire and Dunn counties. Temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 20s and low 30s in rural areas, particularly between midnight and 7 a.m. Saturday.

Cities like Minneapolis, St. Cloud, Mankato, and Rochester may see slightly warmer urban temps, but outlying communities face a higher frost risk. Gardeners and growers are advised to protect sensitive plants, especially in counties like Wright, Kandiyohi, and Chippewa. Areas in Wisconsin, including Pepin and Barron, are also under frost threat as cooler air settles in overnight.

No additional hazardous weather is forecast through next Thursday, but Friday night’s dip is a reminder that spring frost is still a factor. Spotter activation is not expected, and no further advisories have been issued yet.

Warmer, sunny days are ahead, but residents should stay alert for possible updates overnight.
