Minneapolis, MN – The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Dense Fog Advisory covering much of Minnesota and parts of northwest Wisconsin this Thursday morning. The alert remains in effect until 10 a.m. CDT, with visibility dropping to one-quarter mile or less in many areas.

According to the NWS, the advisory affects a wide stretch of the state — from Alexandria, St. Cloud, and Mankato to Minneapolis–St. Paul, Rochester, and Albert Lea, as well as northwest Wisconsin cities including Rice Lake and Ladysmith.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time. Fog is especially thick near rivers, lakes, and low-lying areas, creating hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute.

While no major precipitation is expected, the dense fog may persist through mid-morning before gradually lifting as temperatures rise. Motorists should be prepared for sudden visibility changes along major routes including Interstate 35, I-94, and Highway 169.

Conditions are expected to improve by late morning, leading into a dry and seasonably cool afternoon. Overnight temperatures may again dip near freezing, leading to patchy frost early Friday.
