Blue Earth County, MN – A high-speed police pursuit ended in a crash Monday afternoon after deputies in Blue Earth County chased a stolen pickup truck believed to have been taken from Iowa earlier in the day.
According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began around 3:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025, after a deputy spotted a black GMC pickup driving erratically on County Road 90 near Highway 169. The deputy attempted a traffic stop when dispatch reported that the vehicle had been stolen out of Okoboji, Iowa.
Deputies say the driver initially stopped but fled moments later, claiming his passenger was overdosing before speeding south on County Road 33 and onto County Road 126 at nearly 80 mph. The truck eventually lost control at the 171st Street intersection, rolled into a ditch, and came to rest in a cornfield.
Authorities identified the driver as 27-year-old Vaughn Harris of Maplewood and the passenger as 30-year-old Jessica Ann Nordrum of Farmington. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being booked on multiple charges. Deputies said both individuals also had outstanding warrants and showed signs of illegal drug use.
Nordrum was later transferred to the Blue Earth County Jail, while Harris remains hospitalized. The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing in coordination with Okoboji Police.
