Minneapolis, MN – The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for portions of Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and northern Iowa on Thursday. The severe weather threat is expected to include damaging winds, large hail, and possibly isolated tornadoes as a strong upper-level trough moves across the north-central states. Thunderstorms are anticipated to develop in the afternoon and evening, increasing in coverage as they align with an advancing cold front.
According to the SPC, substantial instability and strong mid-level flow will support the development of organized storms, including potential supercells. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and be prepared for possible severe weather.
