Duluth, MN — Severe weather is expected to hit Minnesota from today through Sunday, bringing a mix of hail, strong winds, and heavy rain. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth has issued an alert indicating the potential for hail up to one inch in diameter and wind gusts reaching 60 mph. Flooding is also a concern, especially on Sunday, with the possibility of a few tornadoes.

According to the NWS, the risk area for Friday night includes a narrow portion of western Koochiching County. On Saturday, the risk expands north and west from Elbow Lake to Grand Rapids to Ely. By Sunday, the threat area extends to the Brainerd Lakes region and areas farther west and south. Residents are urged to stay informed via the NWS website for the latest updates.

The weekend forecast shows varying conditions. Today, Duluth will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 84°F. Saturday brings sunny skies with a high of 90°F. Sunday will be sunny as well, with temperatures peaking at 88°F. However, the risk of heavy rain on Sunday could lead to flash flooding, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Early next week, the weather is expected to stabilize. Monday’s forecast includes a 65% chance of rain with a high of 81°F. The remainder of the week looks clear and sunny, with temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to high 80s.
