Grand Forks, ND – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of Minnesota and North Dakota, bringing blowing snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions. The advisory extends from midnight tonight to noon CST Saturday for areas in northeast North Dakota, and from 3 a.m. to noon CST Saturday for northwest Minnesota.

According to the National Weather Service, affected areas in Minnesota include Kittson, Roseau, West Marshall, and East Marshall Counties, with snow accumulations up to two inches expected. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, reducing visibility significantly and creating near-blizzard conditions in open areas.

In North Dakota, the advisory affects Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Benson, Ramsey, and Walsh Counties. Total snow accumulations are expected to reach up to one inch, with similar gusty winds leading to whiteout conditions in some areas.

Travelers are advised to use caution, slow down, and avoid cruise control. Low beam headlights should remain on due to sudden visibility changes. Officials report icy roads within the Devils Lake basin, compounding travel risks.
