Buffalo, NY – A winter storm watch remains in effect for portions of central and northern New York from Saturday evening through late Sunday night, with heavy lake-effect snow expected in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Oswego County could see snow accumulations between 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent bands. Jefferson and Lewis Counties are also under the winter storm watch, with similar snowfall totals anticipated.

The advisory begins at 3 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 9 a.m. Monday. The heaviest snowfall is expected overnight Saturday into Sunday, with rapidly shifting snow bands that could reduce visibility and make travel hazardous.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution as road conditions may change quickly due to heavy snowfall. Narrow snow bands may lead to localized travel disruptions, particularly along major routes in and around Watertown, Lowville, and Oswego.

Residents should prepare for potential travel delays and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter conditions. Additional updates will be provided as the storm develops.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service or local authorities for the latest updates and emergency notifications.
