Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota – After a wintry start to the week, quieter and warmer conditions are expected across the Twin Cities, with the next chance of precipitation arriving late Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office, overnight temperatures tonight will range from 20 to 30 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies. Tuesday will remain dry with mostly sunny conditions and similar highs in the 20s to near 30.

Conditions begin to moderate Wednesday as temperatures climb into the 30 to 35 degree range, with increasing cloud cover but no significant precipitation expected. The warmest and most impactful day will be Thursday, when highs are forecast to reach 34 to 42 degrees across the metro.

Late Thursday into Christmas Day, a wintry mix of rain and snow is possible, particularly north of Minneapolis–St. Paul, where colder surface temperatures may allow light icing or snow accumulation. At this time, impacts appear limited, but slippery roads could develop in northern and central Minnesota.

No significant wind or winter storm impacts are expected through midweek, making travel conditions generally favorable until late Thursday.
