Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers in the Milwaukee metro area should prepare for worsening travel conditions Sunday as another round of snow moves in, followed by a sharp blast of Arctic cold Sunday night into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, snow is expected again Sunday afternoon and evening, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible. While snowfall amounts remain modest, cold temperatures will allow snow to stick quickly to road surfaces, leading to snow-covered and slippery conditions.

Major roadways including Interstate 94, Interstate 43, Interstate 41, and Highway 145 could become slick during the afternoon and evening hours Sunday, especially during heavier snow bursts. Visibility may be reduced at times, and untreated secondary roads could deteriorate quickly.

Conditions will worsen Sunday night as a strong cold front moves through. Temperatures will drop rapidly, and gusty winds will drive wind chills down to between 15 and 25 degrees below zero. Any slush or moisture left on roads is expected to refreeze, creating icy conditions that could persist into the Monday morning commute.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of southeastern Wisconsin, highlighting ongoing concerns for snow-covered roads and difficult travel.

Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and avoid unnecessary travel Sunday night if possible. Bitter cold and hazardous road conditions may linger into Monday, with additional updates likely as the coldest air settles into the region.
