MILWAUKEE, WI – A confrontation between Milwaukee police officers and an armed man on a porch ended in deadly gunfire Saturday evening, leaving the suspect dead and four officers on administrative duty.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded around 7 p.m. to the 2700 block of North 60th Street to investigate a vehicle allegedly tied to multiple business robberies. The vehicle was found behind a residence, where officers allegedly encountered a 31-year-old man armed with a gun on the rear porch.

Police said officers gave repeated commands for the man to drop his weapon, but he refused. Gunfire was exchanged, and the suspect was struck. No officers were injured during the incident.

Authorities said the suspect sustained fatal gunshot wounds, and his firearm was recovered next to him. It remains unclear whether he died from an officer’s bullet or a self-inflicted injury.

The four officers who fired their weapons include a 46-year-old with more than 21 years of service, a 36-year-old with over eight years, a 30-year-old with over five years, and a 29-year-old with more than 11 years. All are on administrative duty in line with department policy for officer-involved shootings.

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is leading the investigation, with the Brookfield Police Department serving as the primary agency. Officials said the case remains active and that related video footage will be released in accordance with department protocols.
