Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills continued Monday morning in Milwaukee, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory that remains in effect until noon.

According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan, wind chills across the city ranged between -20 and -25 degrees early Monday, with air temperatures hovering between 0 and -10 degrees. The coldest conditions were expected through 9 a.m., when exposed skin could be at risk for frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.

The advisory covers much of southern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee County. Forecasters warned that a few locations west of Interstate 39 could briefly experience wind chills dropping into the -25 to -30 degree range, though Milwaukee was expected to remain slightly warmer.

Residents were urged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and ensure pets and vulnerable populations have adequate shelter from the cold. The conditions are especially impactful for morning commuters, students, and outdoor workers, as wind chills remain hazardous during peak travel hours.

In addition to the cold, the weather service noted the potential for light snow or flurries late tonight, primarily north of Interstate 94. The best chance for snow in the region is expected between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., with snowfall rates remaining below 0.25 inches per hour and total accumulation under 0.5 inches.

While significant accumulation is not expected in Milwaukee, breezy winds and powdery snow could lead to isolated pockets of blowing snow, particularly in open areas. Snow chances are forecast to taper off by sunrise Tuesday.
