Milwaukee, WI – Dangerous swim conditions are expected along southern Wisconsin beaches from Sunday into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, a line of showers and thunderstorms is moving northeast from southwest Wisconsin into central Wisconsin. The storms may bring wind gusts up to 30 mph, lightning, and pea-sized hail. Alongside these weather conditions, onshore winds and large waves will create hazardous swimming conditions on Sunday.

Residents are advised to stay out of the water, as waves are expected to reach 3-5 feet, posing life-threatening risks. The National Weather Service emphasizes the danger of breaking waves and currents, especially near piers and break walls.

In addition to the swim risks, the heat index is projected to feel like the 90s through Tuesday, with the hottest temperatures expected on Monday. The combination of high temperatures and humidity increases the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable individuals.

Periodic shower and storm chances will accompany the heat, with more widespread showers expected by Wednesday. Authorities advise caution and preparedness for rapidly changing weather conditions.

Beachgoers should heed warnings and avoid swimming during high-risk periods to ensure safety amid these severe weather conditions.
