Milwaukee, WI – Temperatures will drop below freezing overnight, with lows reaching 29°F to 33°F by early Sunday morning, raising concerns for frost-covered roads and damage to outdoor plants across southeast Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, the cold snap will hit between midnight and 7 a.m. Sunday, with another round of freezing temperatures expected Sunday night into early Monday. The back-to-back cold nights increase the risk of widespread frost, especially in low-lying and rural areas.

Cities including Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha, and Waukesha are expected to see sub-freezing temperatures during the overnight hours. While precipitation is not expected, moisture on surfaces could freeze, creating isolated slick spots on bridges and overpasses, particularly along I-94, I-43, and surrounding highways.

Residents should cover or bring in sensitive vegetation and be alert for patchy frost during early morning travel. Outdoor pets should have adequate shelter from the cold, and drivers are advised to allow extra time for commutes where frost may develop.

Temperatures begin to rebound Monday, with highs climbing into the mid-40s to low 50s. Additional advisories may be issued if freezing conditions persist or expand across the state.
