Milan, Illinois – A 56-year-old Milan man was arrested on multiple child exploitation charges following searches at his home and workplace Wednesday.

According to Illinois State Police, Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 Special Agents arrested Dennis Carey, 56, of Milan, on four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and four counts of production of child pornography, a Class X felony.

Authorities said that on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, agents executed a search warrant at Carey’s residence in the 2900 block of 53rd Avenue W., as well as at his place of employment, as part of an ongoing investigation. Electronic evidence was collected during the searches, police said.

State police reported that agents also executed an arrest warrant charging Carey in connection with the investigation. He was transported to the Rock Island County Jail, where he remains in custody.

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, Moline Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with the investigation, according to Illinois State Police.

Carey allegedly committed the offenses as outlined in the charging documents. The charges are not evidence of guilt, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Officials said resources for reporting crimes against children are available through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The case may draw attention from local families and school communities in Rock Island County as court proceedings move forward.
