Paducah, KY – A tornado watch has been issued for parts of four states due to the threat of severe weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the watch for Southeast Illinois, Southwest Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southeast Missouri Friday night. The watch is in effect from 9:40 PM CDT Friday until 4:00 AM CDT Saturday.

According to the NWS, the primary threats include a few tornadoes, some of which could be intense, and scattered damaging winds gusting up to 70 mph. Large hail, potentially up to 1.5 inches in diameter, is also likely.

The storm system responsible for the watch is moving eastward, and severe thunderstorms are expected to continue for several hours. The watch area stretches about 60 miles east and west of a line from Paducah, KY, to Owensboro, KY.

Residents in these regions should stay alert and monitor weather conditions for updates. The NWS advises people to be prepared for possible warnings and take immediate action if necessary.
