Indianapolis, IN – Gamers across the Midwest are counting down the days to the highly anticipated midnight release of the Nintendo Switch 2, as Best Buy stores throughout the region prepare to open early next Wednesday.

According to multiple sources, most Best Buy locations in the U.S. — including dozens throughout Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and surrounding states — will open at 12:01 a.m. ET on June 5 to accommodate pre-order pickups. Limited quantities of the console, along with games and accessories, will also be available for walk-in customers, though availability is expected to be tight.

Nintendo opened pre-orders on April 24, and demand has already surged beyond expectations. According to the Associated Press, the company confirmed it is “working diligently to fulfill orders” but noted that delivery by launch day may not be guaranteed. Retailers, including Best Buy, are urging customers to visit stores in person for the best chance at securing a unit.

Originally announced in January, the Nintendo Switch 2 is the follow-up to the 2017 Nintendo Switch, which has sold over 150 million units, making it the second best-selling system in Nintendo’s history. The new model includes upgraded graphics, improved controllers, mouse support, and an expanded online chat system that enables video and audio communication between players.

U.S. fans, many of whom recall long lines and sold-out shelves during previous console releases, are expected to line up early Tuesday night in anticipation of the 12:01 a.m. opening. Best Buy’s online store locator can help gamers find participating locations near them.
