Midlothian, IL – Police officers will take to the rooftop of a local Dunkin’ next month as part of a statewide effort to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics athletes.
According to the Midlothian Police Department, the “Cop on a Rooftop” fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, May 15th from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dunkin’ located at 14631 S. Pulaski Road in Midlothian. Officers will remain on the rooftop throughout the morning, encouraging passing community members to stop by, donate, and show their support.
The event is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois, a long-standing initiative that partners law enforcement agencies with the nonprofit to generate funding and community engagement. Donations collected during the event will directly benefit local Special Olympics athletes, helping fund training, competitions, and related programs.
Organizers say attendees can expect a visible police presence, opportunities to interact with officers, and a family-friendly atmosphere designed to bring the community together for a common cause. The department is also encouraging residents to stop by, meet officers, and contribute whatever they can.
“Cop on a Rooftop” events are held across Illinois and have become a recognizable tradition tied to Dunkin’ locations, often drawing strong turnout from local residents and businesses. Midlothian officials hope this year’s event will continue that trend and generate meaningful support for athletes in the region.
