Nashville, Tennessee – Middle Tennessee is turning the page after Tuesday’s severe weather, with cooler, less humid air bringing a refreshing break today. While the threat of severe storms has ended, some roads may still be affected by lingering high water or storm debris during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, residents should remain alert for leftover flooding or blocked roads early today, especially in areas that received heavy rain. Cooler and drier air is settling into the region behind a cold front, bringing a much more comfortable pattern through the end of the workweek. Only the far southern counties and portions of the Cumberland Plateau could see a few lingering showers or thunderstorms today, but no additional severe weather or new flooding is expected.

Communities including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Clarksville, Columbia and Cookeville will enjoy pleasant July weather Thursday and Friday, with low humidity and mostly dry conditions. Nashville is forecast to reach 89 degrees today, 85 degrees Thursday and 88 degrees Friday, while Crossville remains cooler with highs in the lower 80s through Friday.

The next opportunity for more widespread rainfall arrives Friday night into Saturday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to move back across the entire region. Current forecasts do not indicate a significant severe weather or flooding threat, although outdoor plans could be interrupted by periods of rain. Rain chances remain elevated Saturday before tapering Sunday.

By early next week, summer heat and humidity return across Middle Tennessee. Highs are expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s in the Nashville area by Sunday and Monday, with only isolated afternoon rain chances.
