Nashville, TN – Heavy rain is soaking Middle Tennessee overnight, triggering a Flood Advisory in Davidson, Rutherford, Williamson, and Wilson counties until 7 a.m. Wednesday. Low-lying areas and roads with poor drainage are most at risk for standing water, with minor flooding already reported in several neighborhoods.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, Doppler radar detected intense rainfall from thunderstorms around 4 a.m., with the heaviest bands stretching from Murfreesboro to Franklin and into parts of Brentwood, La Vergne, and Mount Juliet. Travel could be hazardous before sunrise, particularly along secondary roads and in urban neighborhoods where drains are clogged.
Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles. If you encounter water over the roadway, turn around and seek an alternate route. Localized flooding may also impact access to residential areas such as Bellevue, Nolensville, and portions of Smyrna.
Rain chances taper later in the day, but storms return Thursday afternoon, bringing both heat and humidity back into the region. Additional advisories may be issued if rainfall rates intensify again.
