Philadelphia, Pa. – A stretch of crisp, dry weather will hold across the Mid-Atlantic through the weekend as high pressure locks into place, keeping skies clear and temperatures seasonably cool.

According to the National Weather Service’s Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the region will stay dry through Friday and into the weekend, with only a gradual warm-up expected early next week. Rivers and streams are receding, and with rain chances remaining very low, conditions will continue trending drier across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.

Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia can expect refreshing, fall-like afternoons with highs in the 70s and cooler nights dropping into the 50s. In Virginia, Richmond and Norfolk will see similarly comfortable weather, offering a much-needed break from summer’s lingering heat. The stretch of calm weather will also help keep travel disruptions at a minimum, though the prolonged dryness could slow river and stream recovery in areas that saw recent higher flows.

Residents are urged to enjoy the mild spell while preparing for a rebound in temperatures, as slightly above-average warmth is expected to return by early next week. Officials say the risk of rain will remain low into the start of the new week.
