Washington, District of Columbia – A steady warm-up is underway across the Mid-Atlantic, bringing a noticeable shift away from winter chill as temperatures climb well above average through the middle and latter part of the week, with several chances for rain along the way.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore and Washington, highs will steadily rise through midweek, reaching the 50s and even low 60s across much of Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District by Thursday and Friday. Monday starts mild with clouds, followed by increasing warmth Tuesday as a few rain showers develop, mainly across the Allegheny Front and areas north of I-70.

By Wednesday and Thursday, dry breaks allow temperatures to surge. Washington, Baltimore, and the I-95 corridor could see highs approaching 60 degrees, while Shenandoah Valley locations warm into the upper 50s. Clouds increase late Thursday as another system approaches.

The next best chance for more widespread rain arrives late Friday into Saturday, which could dampen travel plans but also help boost soil moisture after a dry stretch. While rainfall totals are not expected to be excessive, roads could turn slick during heavier showers.

Temperatures ease back closer to seasonal levels by Sunday, especially west of the Blue Ridge. Forecasters say the overall pattern remains active, and additional updates or rain chances may be issued as the week progresses.
