Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas is settling into another stretch of mild, above-average weather this week, offering a break from winter chill before a storm system brings rain and a possible round of thunderstorms by late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, temperatures across much of the state will remain well above normal through at least Friday. Highs are expected to climb into the 60s and low 70s across central and southern Arkansas through midweek, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs, while northern areas such as Harrison and Batesville stay slightly cooler but still mild for early January.

The quiet weather pattern begins to change Thursday as a cold front approaches from the west. Showers are expected to develop statewide Thursday into Friday, with the potential for a few thunderstorms, particularly across southern and eastern Arkansas. While severe weather is not currently anticipated, periods of rain could impact travel on major routes including I-30, I-40, and I-49.

Behind the front, cooler air moves in for the weekend. Temperatures are expected to trend back closer to seasonal levels Saturday and Sunday, though conditions should remain dry.

Forecasters note the active pattern will continue, and additional updates may be issued as timing and rain coverage become clearer. Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts, especially if outdoor or travel plans are scheduled late this week.
