Mount Holly, NJ – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a High Wind Watch for eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning, warning of gusts between 50 and 60 mph that could lead to power outages and travel disruptions.

The watch includes Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties in New Jersey, and Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Upper Bucks, Western Montgomery, Carbon, and Monroe Counties in Pennsylvania. Key cities impacted include Allentown, Reading, Easton, Morristown, Flemington, and Stroudsburg.

Forecasters expect northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph developing after 7 p.m. Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning. The strongest winds are likely overnight, coinciding with a powerful cold front sweeping across the Mid-Atlantic.

According to the National Weather Service, damaging winds could topple trees and power lines, leading to widespread outages and difficult driving conditions for high-profile vehicles on I-78, I-80, and I-476.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, monitor updates from local officials, and prepare for potential power interruptions through early Thursday. Conditions should improve by midday Thursday as the storm system exits the region.
